Getting Here

Flying

The nearest airport is Norfolk International Airport. From there, you can rent a truck suitable for 4WD Outer Banks adventures, and it is a 2.5-hour drive to Carova Beach without traffic.

Driving

**YOU MUST HAVE A 4WD VEHICLE**

If possible, try to get to the Wright Memorial Bridge and arrive at the Outer Banks earlier in the morning or later in the day if you are coming in on a weekend. Once you cross the bridge and turn north, it becomes a two-lane road that can get very backed up, especially mid-day on Saturdays! We suggest arriving early and then spending some time relaxing or running errands in Corolla until the home is ready. You can grocery shop, grab lunch, etc.

Beach Driving

The most important part of driving on the beach is to AIR DOWN your tires. If it’s your first time, your tires may feel extremely low, but this step is crucial for your ability to navigate the beach! Keep in mind that there is NOT a place to stop at the end of the pavement. Most visitors will typically air down while stopping to grocery shop at Harris Teeter or Food Lion. You can also follow the signs for the air down station located on the right side of the road.

At the end of your vacation, there is a free air up station at Corolla Park.

For more information, you can find the beach driving rules and regulations from Currituck County HERE. Two parking passes are included with the home.
